Citizenship

People and Planet

My own lived experience of citizenship through the practice of engaging with the systems that shape our lives - technology, community, work, health, and environment.

IEEE Planet Positive 2030 - Founding Contributor and Committee Initiator - AI and Data Centres

Supported by the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA), the initiative brings together a global diverse, open community of experts to chart a path for all people to achieve a flourishing future for 2030 and beyond.

The committee will focus on the material, ecological, and social impacts of hyperscale AI data centres - from energy and water extraction, to pollution and land appropriation, and the deeper systemic ways in which data centre location reshapes regional communities, ecosystems, and more than human worlds.

Our aim is to move beyond net zero narratives, toward planet positive, regenerative approaches to technology infrastructure, grounded in more than human perspectives, ecosystem flourishing, and plural knowledge systems, including Indigenous ways of knowing.

Mental Health Motorbike - Northumberland and Tyne and Wear Regional Coordinator

I served the Northumberland and Tyne and Wear region for the Mental Health Motorbike national charity.

The charity promulgates mental health awareness through campaigns and events, building community among motorcyclists, and providing mental health first aid and signposting through a regional volunteer network.

My role involved recruiting volunteers, leading the local team, coordinating with the national organisation and leadership, building partnerships with local motorcycle dealers and venues such as cafes to host events. I stepped down once the region was up and running due to time constraints and a desire to channel my energy into other initiatives.
