Career Coaching
Career coaching for experienced professionals in software, data, or AI who feel stuck, misaligned, or underused - and aren’t sure what comes next.
With extensive experience in technical and leadership roles inside complex organisations, I help you make sense of where you are, what’s changed, and how to move forward in a way that reflects your strengths and experience.
WHO I WORK WITH
You're an experienced software, engineering, data or AI professional feeling stuck, misaligned, or underused - and know you can do more than your current situation allows.
You’ve built deep expertise. Delivered complex work. Taken on more responsibility. But at some point, your role stopped feeling like progression and started feeling like maintenance.
THIS MAY LOOK LIKE ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- You’re no longer doing the work you’re good at - more coordination, less contribution
- You’ve outgrown the role, but can’t clearly articulate what’s next
- Working in environments where data, engineering or AI aren’t well understood
- Leadership, priorities, or structure make meaningful progress difficult
- You’re delivering, but not getting the recognition, ownership, or progression you’d expect
- The role made sense on paper, but doesn’t feel right in practice
- You can see the problems clearly, but not the right move yet
At that point, staying feels wrong - but leaving without a clear direction doesn’t feel right either.
HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER
If this resonates, there are two structured ways to work with me depending on where you are in your situation.
Some people come needing space to step back and understand what is actually going on. Others already know something isn’t working and want support to actively work through a transition.
Both are valid starting points - the difference is simply depth of clarity and readiness to act.
1. CAREER CLARITY SESSION
A focused 90 minute session designed to help you step back from day-to-day pressures and make sense of your current situation.
We will map what is happening in your role, identify what has changed, and begin to clarify direction and options.
For some people, one session is enough to gain clarity and decide next steps. For more complex situations, a second session may be useful to properly refine direction and thinking.
You will leave with clearer understanding of your situation and a structured sense of possible next steps.
Best for: understanding what is going on and beginning to clarify direction before deciding on any longer-term change
2. CAREER TRANSITION PROGRAMME
A structured coaching programme for experienced professionals who already know their current situation is no longer working and want support to actively transition into a more aligned role or direction.
We work through understanding your position, clarifying direction, repositioning your experience, and building a realistic and practical path forward.
This is a structured process designed to move you from uncertainty into clear direction and deliberate action.
Best for: making a committed and supported career transition
NOT SURE WHERE TO START?
Start with the Career Clarity Session. This will help you understand your situation in more depth and whether further structured work would be valuable.
ABOUT ME

I combine my 35 years experience of working inside complex organisations with coaching practice.
Over time, I began to notice recurring patterns in how careers evolve inside organisations. Strong technical professionals gradually move away from the work they’re best at, with roles drifting from creation into coordination, oversight, and process.
My own career has spanned software engineering, data, and AI, across both highly mature technical environments and organisations still developing their capability. This has given me a broad perspective on how different systems shape the way people work, and how easily misalignment can develop.
I’ve also experienced first hand the challenges that come with this: organisational change, shifting priorities, misaligned incentives, and the gap between individual capability and how it is recognised or used.
What I’ve learned is that these are rarely isolated issues. They are patterns that repeat across organisations, and once you can see them clearly, it becomes much easier to understand your situation and decide what to do next.
That perspective now underpins how I work with clients.

PROFESSIONAL PERSPECTIVE
My coaching is informed by a systems level view of how organisations operate, shaped by experience across:
- Large scale software, data and AI system design and delivery
- Agile and product oriented delivery environments
- Responsible and ethical use of technology in organisations
This perspective means I pay close attention to how structure, incentives, and decision making shape day-to-day work - and how easily misalignment can develop between capability, contribution, and recognition.

CAREER CLARITY SESSION
£175 | 90 minutes | Online session + written summary
(Follow up sessions are not included and are available separately if needed)
A focused 90 minute working session designed to help you understand what is actually happening in your current situation and develop a clearer sense of next steps.
This is for experienced professionals in software, data, or AI who feel stuck, misaligned, or underused - and want structured thinking to cut through uncertainty and complexity.
You don’t need generic career advice. You need clarity on what has changed, what it means, and a way to approach your next step.
WHAT WE COVER IN THE SESSION
We work through your situation in depth, focusing on:
• What has actually changed in your role or environment
• Where the misalignment is coming from (role, organisation, or direction)
• Whether you are experiencing stagnation, transition, or role mismatch
• What is working, what is not, and why
• What realistic options are available from your current position
This is structured sense making based on your real context.
WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH
After the session, you will receive:
• A clear written summary of key themes and insights from the session
• A structured view of your current situation
• A clearer view of your realistic options (stay, reposition, or move on)
• A clearer sense of your direction and next steps, grounded in your situation
The aim is not just insight in the moment, but clarity of thought you can refer back to when making decisions.
HOW THE SESSION WORKS
The session takes place online and is structured around focused conversation and guided questioning.
It is non-directive in style - I will not tell you what to do - but I will help you think clearly about what is actually happening and what it means for your next step.
The goal is clarity, not advice.

This session is a good fit if you:
• Have significant experience in software, data, or AI roles
• Feel your role no longer reflects your capability or contribution
• Are delivering work but sensing misalignment or stagnation

• Want structured clarity before making career decisions
NOT A GOOD FIT IF

CAREER TRANSITION PROGRAMME
£1,200 | 6 × 90-minute sessions | Structured coaching programme
A structured coaching programme for experienced professionals in software, data, and AI who know their current situation is no longer working - and want to move towards something more aligned.
This is for when you’ve moved beyond initial uncertainty and are ready to actively work through a transition with structure, focus, and momentum.
WHAT THIS IS
This programme provides a structured space to work through a career transition over a series of sessions.
We work through understanding your situation in depth, clarifying direction, and developing and refining practical next steps towards a more aligned role or way of working.
The focus is not just on insight, but on creating practical movement and momentum - working through the realities, constraints, and decisions involved in making a meaningful change.
HOW WE WORK
The programme is delivered over six structured sessions, each with a clear focus agreed in advance.
Sessions take place online and are based on focused conversation, structured questioning, and reflection.
We identify any actions between sessions to maintain momentum and progress.
My approach is non-directive. I do not give advice or tell you what to do. Instead, I work with you to help you think clearly about your situation, your options, and the implications of different paths - so you can make decisions with confidence and act on them.
WHAT WE WILL WORK ON
Depending on your situation, this may include:
• Understanding what is driving your current situation and where misalignment is coming from
• Clarifying what a better role or direction actually looks like for you
• Identifying realistic and well aligned options based on your experience
• Repositioning your experience so it translates into credible next steps
• Working through decisions around staying, repositioning, or moving on
• Taking deliberate action rather than remaining in analysis or drift
• Maintaining consistency and momentum through a complex transition
WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH
By the end of the programme, you will have:
• A clear understanding of your situation and what needs to change
• A clearer direction that reflects your strengths, experience, and priorities
• A realistic and practical sense of possible paths forward based on your actual constraints
• A repositioned view of your experience that supports credible next steps
• Greater clarity and confidence in your decision making
• Tangible progress through clearer thinking, decisions and action over the course of the programme
WHO THIS IS FOR
